New Kashmir Stores

New Kashmir Stores is situated at 323, M.G. Road. M.G. Road is always lively and full of traffic, so there's never a dull moment right outside our door. We’ve been at this location for a good while now. The shop itself is packed with items from floor to ceiling. It can be a little hard to navigate the narrow aisles when we have a lot of new stock coming in, but we like it that way. It feels full and busy. We don’t have any modern displays or bright neon signs like some of the newer places. It’s just a traditional store with wooden shelves and a simple counter where we sit. The front door stays open most of the day to let people see what’s inside. Sometimes the dust from the road blows in, so we are always dusting things off with a cloth. We know a lot of the regular shoppers who walk past every day on their way to work. They might stop for a quick chat or just wave as they go by. Our work consists of unpacking heavy boxes, helping anyone who walks in, and keeping the inventory straight. We use an old ledger for some things and a computer for others. It’s a mix of the old ways and the new. Lunch is usually brought from home in a tiffin and eaten in the back room between customers. It’s a simple way to run things. The ceiling fan hums all day, which helps a bit when the sun is beating down.
