New Ganesh General Stores

Our store is right by the Lal Gate in Wagholi, near the Abhilasha Market. It’s a tight squeeze inside because we try to stock as much as we can on the shelves. You’ll find soap, bags of rice, biscuits, and all the little things people need for their houses. We open up early because that’s when people are out looking for milk or bread. The area around Hotel Shivneri is always moving, so there is a lot of dust and noise coming in from the front door. We don't have a computer for bills, just a notepad and a pen to keep track of things. Sometimes customers stay for a few minutes to talk about the prices going up or the traffic on the main road. The fans hum all day long to try and keep the heat down, but it’s still warm in the back. We have boxes stacked up in the corners waiting to be unpacked. It’s just me and a couple of others helping out behind the counter. We know most of the people who come in by their names or at least their faces. It isn’t a fancy supermarket, just a local shop where you can grab what you need and go. We keep a bucket of water near the door for cleaning the floor every few hours. It’s a busy life, but it keeps us connected to the neighborhood. We just do our best to keep everything in stock.
