About National Centre For Radio Astrophysics – Engineering in Pune
We're up on the fifth floor of this building in Dapodi. It's a busy part of Pune, and finding a parking spot can be a real headache some mornings. The elevators are usually working, which is good because nobody wants to walk up five flights in the heat. Inside, it’s mostly just offices and computers. We spend our days looking at data and trying to make sense of what’s coming in from the telescopes. It’s quiet work for the most part, though things pick up when there’s a big project going on. People come and go throughout the day, carrying notebooks or coffee. Being in Dapodi means we have plenty of places to grab a quick bite nearby, though the traffic is always a mess in the evenings. The view from the windows isn't anything special, just roofs and more buildings. We’ve been based here for a bit now. It’s a functional space, nothing too flashy. Most people don't even know we're up here on the 5th floor. We just keep to ourselves and get the science done. Sometimes the air conditioning is too cold, and other times it’s not enough. That’s just how it goes in these older office blocks. We have everything we need right here to keep things running for the National Centre For Radio Astrophysics. It’s a decent place to work if you don’t mind the commute through Pune.
