Natasha Mushroom

We run Natasha Mushroom over at Camp Magadi Road 11. It’s a bit of a specific business, focusing on growing and selling mushrooms to the local community here. We started out small and stayed that way because we like being able to keep an eye on everything ourselves. The setup on Magadi Road is simple. We have the space where the mushrooms grow and a small area where we handle the sales. It’s a lot of humidity and temperature checking, which keeps us busy all day long. Mushrooms are delicate, so you can’t just leave them be. We spend a lot of time cleaning and making sure the conditions are right. Most people who come by are looking for fresh stuff for their cooking at home or for small eateries nearby. It’s nice to talk to the neighbors and the regulars who stop in. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It is just a few of us working together. Sometimes the crop is great, and sometimes we have to work a bit harder to get things right. That’s just how farming goes, even on a small scale like this. The location at Camp is pretty convenient for us and our customers. We’ve been at number 11 for a while now, and most people in the area know where to find us. It’s honest work and we enjoy the pace of it.
