System Engineers

Our workshop, System Engineers, is tucked away in the Khedekar Industrial Estate. It’s at S. No. 38/1, right behind the Pari Company in Narhe. Finding us can be a bit tricky the first time because of how the lanes are laid out, but once you’re here, you’ll see we are always busy. There is usually the sound of machines running or someone grinding metal. We do a lot of engineering work for various clients around Pune. The floor is often covered in metal shavings and we try to sweep up at the end of the shift. It’s a small team of us. We share a few laughs during the lunch break under the fan. The office part is just a small corner with a computer and some files. We don’t really do fancy presentations. Most of our talks happen over a cup of tea near the workbench. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we spend the whole day trying to get it back up. That’s just part of the life in an industrial estate like Narhe. We know the neighbors and sometimes borrow tools from each other. It feels like a real community of makers. We just focus on getting the parts right and making sure they fit. It's hard work but it's what we know. The sun hits the metal roof in the afternoon making it quite warm, but we keep the fans going.
