Our place is over at Shed 3 in the Anant Industrial Estate. Finding it can be a bit tricky the first time because of all the Hissa numbers and the way Shivane is laid out. It’s basically Survey No 83. We’ve been operating out of this shed for a bit now. It is a decent space, enough room for our equipment and to move things around without bumping into each other too much. Shivane gets quite busy during the day with all the trucks coming in and out of the estate. The noise is something you just get used to after the first week. We spend most of our time dealing with the machines and making sure the parts are right. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s what we know. The shed stays cool enough in the mornings, but by the afternoon it gets pretty warm under the metal roof. We usually take a long lunch break when the heat is at its worst. My cousin helps me out with the heavy lifting and the logistics of getting things delivered. We don’t really do any fancy advertising or stuff like that. Most of our work comes from word of mouth from other people in the industrial estate. It’s a tight-knit community here in Khadakwasla. Everyone kind of knows what everyone else is doing. We just focus on our own corner in Shed 3 and try to stay busy. It’s a good enough way to make a living for us.
