Naanus Kitchen

We started Naanus Kitchen right here in our apartment at Sharda Ganesh. It’s a bit of a tight space in Sadashiv Peth but we make it work. Most people know the building because it’s so close to the Vitthal Mandir. We spend most of our mornings getting the stove going and prepping whatever is fresh for the day. It’s not a big fancy setup with lots of staff. Usually, it’s just us making sure the food tastes like something you’d eat at home. Sometimes the doorbell rings when things are busy and we have to juggle the pots and the door at the same time. The neighborhood is quiet mostly, except for the temple bells. We’ve been here in Pune for a while now and most of our regulars are just folks living nearby who don’t feel like cooking for themselves. We keep the counters clean and the windows open to let the heat out. It gets pretty warm in the kitchen during the lunch rush. We don't really do much advertising. People just find us or hear about the place from someone else on the street. It’s a simple life, really. We wake up, we cook, we clean up, and we do it all again the next day. Being in Sadashiv Peth feels right because everyone knows everyone else. It’s nice to see a familiar face coming to the door for their meal box.
