Mutha Departmental Store

Mutha Departmental Store is situated in the Vishal Nagar area of Pradhikaran. We are a larger store than the tiny corner shops, so we carry a wider variety of items for the home. You can find anything from kitchenware and plastic buckets to a whole range of packaged foods and toiletries. The aisles are a bit wider here, though they still get cluttered when we are restocking the shelves on Monday mornings. We have a few staff members who help with the billing and making sure the items are priced correctly. The lighting is okay, but we could probably use a few more bulbs in the back corner where the hardware items are kept. It gets busy in the evenings when people are coming home from work and realize they need something for dinner. We use a simple computer to scan the items, which helps keep things moving when there is a line at the counter. The shop has been a fixture in Vishal Nagar for quite a while, so most of the locals know us well. We don't spend money on flyers or big advertisements. We just focus on keeping the stock fresh and making sure the floor is relatively clean for the shoppers. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting boxes and counting inventory, but it keeps us on our feet throughout the day. We try to be helpful if someone can't find something on the shelves.
