Monika General Stores

If you go to the Phool Sunder Market in Narayangaon, you will find Monika General Stores. We are a bit of a distance from the main Pune city, so we serve a lot of the local folks who live and farm around here. The shop is filled with everything from toiletries and soaps to packaged snacks and basic kitchen ingredients. Because it is a general store, we have to keep a little bit of everything. You never know if someone is going to walk in needing a battery, a pen, or a bag of rice. Narayangaon has its own pace, and we follow that. The market gets quite crowded on certain days of the week when people from nearby villages come to shop. We have arranged the shelves ourselves, and they are packed tight to make use of every inch of space. It is a lot of manual work, keeping track of what is expiring and what we need to order more of. We do not have a big staff, just a few of us who know the locals well. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool when it is quiet and watch the tractors go by. We do not try to be anything we are not. It is just a place to buy your daily necessities without having to travel too far into the city. We have been here for years and the store has become a staple for the area.
