Modern Caterers

Being at Modern Caterers means spending most of our day at Poonam Plaza. We occupy shops 11 and 12, which gives us a decent amount of space, but it always feels a bit cramped once we get the big stoves going. Karve Nagar is a crowded area, especially because we are right near Cummins College. You see students walking by all day, mostly looking for snacks or heading to class. Having the Bhagina Niviteta Bank so close is handy for us too. The plaza is one of those typical local buildings where everyone knows each other. We arrive when it’s still dark to start the prep work. There is always a lot of chopping and washing to do before the sun even comes up. The smell of spices usually fills the corridor of the plaza by mid-morning. It’s a lot of work keeping everything organized across two different shop units. We are constantly moving between the two spaces, carrying trays and checking on the supplies. The traffic on the road outside can be a nightmare during rush hour, but we are used to the honking and the general chaos of the city. We just focus on the orders we have for the day. It’s a simple setup, nothing too fancy, just a couple of shops in a busy plaza where we try to stay on top of the daily grind.
