Military Hospital Kirkee

The Military Hospital Kirkee is situated up in the Range Hills area. It’s actually a pretty nice spot compared to some of the other places I’ve worked. There are lots of big old trees around Range Hills that keep the sun off the buildings. The hospital itself is quite spread out. You have to walk quite a bit to get from the labs to the main wards. Kirkee is an old cantonment, and you can see it in the architecture of the hospital. Some of the roofs are tiled and the porches are wide. I like sitting outside for a few minutes during my break to look at the hills. We get a lot of patients who are just here for recovery because it’s a bit quieter than the city. The wards are high-ceilinged and stay relatively cool. We don't have many modern gadgets, but the nurses know their business and the beds are kept clean. It’s a lot of routine. Breakfast at seven, rounds at eight, and then the steady stream of people at the out-patient department. You hear the birds in the morning and the sound of boots on the pavement outside. It is a peaceful kind of place, but we still have plenty of work to keep us busy until late. Range Hills is a good place for a hospital because of the fresh air. We just do our shifts and keep the place running as best as we can.
