Mehta General Stores

Mehta General Stores is located at Budhwar Peth in Phugewadi. We are at Survey No 793, right by Moti Chowk. It’s a busy corner. There is always something happening at the chowk, people shouting, bikes honking, and folks just walking through. Our store is right in the middle of all that. We open up early and don't really close until late. The shelves are usually packed with whatever we can fit on them. It’s not one of those big supermarkets with wide aisles. It’s a bit cramped, but we know where everything is kept. If you ask for something, we can usually find it in a few seconds. We see the same faces every day, neighbors coming in for their daily needs. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who take turns behind the counter. The floor is a bit worn down from all the feet walking on it over the years. We don’t spend money on fancy displays or lighting. We just have the lights on so people can see what they are buying. It’s a real local shop. Being at Survey No 793 means we are a part of the Phugewadi community. We don’t need a mission statement or anything like that. We just run Mehta General Stores and try to keep the shelves stocked for whoever walks in next. It’s a simple life and we are happy being here in the chowk.
