Working at No. 465 Bhawani Peth means being right in the middle of a very busy trading hub. We deal with steel every day and that means a lot of heavy lifting and moving stacks of rods or sheets around the storage area. It’s not a glamorous job by any means. Most of our time is spent checking the stock levels and talking to the drivers who bring the material in. Bhawani Peth is known for this kind of trade, so the whole neighborhood has that industrial feel to it. You hear the sound of metal clanging against metal all day long. The office is just a small corner where we keep the books and handle the paperwork while the main action happens out on the floor. We get a lot of dust from the road coming in through the front, so we are always dusting off the desk. Sometimes the heat in the afternoon makes the steel almost too hot to touch without gloves. We don't spend money on fancy marketing or anything like that because the people who need steel usually just know where to find us. It’s a simple way of making a living and it keeps us busy from the time we open the shutters in the morning. We just try to make sure we have what people are looking for and that we can get it loaded onto their vehicles without too much of a wait.
