Manu'S Kitchen

If you're around Wakad, you might have passed by Manu'S Kitchen. It’s not a big restaurant with a valet or anything like that. It’s just a kitchen where we cook food for the people around here. We started this in Wakad because it’s where we live and we saw that people needed a simple place to eat. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint and the chairs don't all match, but it’s comfortable enough. We spend a lot of time prepping vegetables and making sure the stove is working right. It gets hot in there, especially in the afternoons, so we usually have the back door open to get a breeze. We don't have a massive menu with hundreds of items. We just make what we know how to make well. Some of the regulars come in every single day and we don't even have to ask what they want anymore. We just start cooking. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except during the dinner rush when everyone shows up at the same time. We don't do fancy plating or use expensive ingredients that nobody can pronounce. It’s just straightforward food. We handle everything ourselves, from the shopping at the local market to the washing up at night. It’s tiring work but we like being our own bosses here in Wakad. It feels real and that’s what matters to us.
