Manu'S Kitchen is right here in Wakad. We don’t have a fancy street number to give out, everyone just knows where we are. It’s a small operation. Most of the day is spent around the stove or prepping vegetables. We don't have a lot of staff, so everyone does a bit of everything. One minute I might be cooking, and the next I’m taking out the trash or talking to a neighbor. We didn't set this up to be a big chain. It’s just a kitchen where we make food. The air is usually thick with the smell of whatever is on the burner. We keep the doors open when it's hot. People in Wakad stop by on their way home from work. We don't have a lot of decorations on the walls. We figure people are here for the food, not the wallpaper. We use the same pots and pans we’ve had since we opened. They’re a bit dented now, but they work fine. We don’t follow any big corporate rules. We just cook what we know how to cook. Sometimes we run out of something and have to tell people we’re sorry. That’s just life in a small kitchen. We like the noise of the street and the sound of the pans clanking. It feels real. We are just here every day, doing our best to keep the burners going. It’s a lot of work but it’s what we do.
