Manik Kirana Store

The Manik Kirana Store is right on Bazar Peth Road in Rasayani. Being near the Naupada Police Station means there is always some activity outside our door. We open up early to get the bread and milk sorted before the main crowd arrives. The shelves are packed with all the usual stuff like soap, pulses, and snacks. We don't have a lot of extra space, so things are stacked pretty high. You have to be careful when reaching for something on the top shelf. The counter is wooden and smooth from years of people leaning on it while they wait for their change. We know most of the people who come in by their first names. It’s a local spot where people catch up on news while buying their groceries. The floor gets swept a few times a day but the dust from the road always finds its way back in. We have a small radio that plays local stations in the background. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use flashlights to find things for customers. It’s just a regular neighborhood shop. We don’t have a website or anything like that. We just write down the accounts in big ledgers. When it rains, the water drips a bit near the entrance, so we put a bucket there. It is a familiar routine every day.
