Mahaveer Provision Stores

We are located in the Tulajai Classic building right on the Main Road in Akurdi. Shop number 12 is where you will find us, usually surrounded by sacks of grains and stacks of boxes. It is a typical local provision store. We spend the morning unpacking crates of milk and making sure the shelves are stocked with the basics people need for their kitchens. The space is a bit tight because we try to keep a lot of variety, so you have to watch your step between the aisles. Since we are on the main road, it gets pretty busy in the evenings when everyone is heading home from work and realizes they forgot to buy oil or lentils. We know most of the people who come in by their first names because they have been living in Akurdi for years. It is a lot of repetitive work, like weighing out sugar or counting change, but it keeps us busy. The fan overhead hums all day, and there is always a bit of dust from the bags of flour. We do not have a website or any of that fancy stuff; we just open the shutters early and close them late. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late and we have to shuffle things around to make room. It is just a regular shop run by regular people trying to make sure the neighborhood has what it needs for daily cooking.
