Mahalaxmi Variety

This shop is located in Pragati Colony, specifically in the Dhanakawadi area. We also have a connection to the Wardha Road and Mumbai Central 3 section nearby, so it’s a bit of a cross-point for us. We call it Mahalaxmi Variety because that is exactly what it is. We keep a bit of everything on the shelves, from household items to small knick-knacks that people might need in a hurry. It can get a little dusty because the road outside is always under some kind of repair, but we try to wipe things down when we can. We aren't a big supermarket, just a local spot where you can grab what you need without a fuss. Often, the kids from the colony come in for snacks after school, and we know most of their names by now. We don't have a formal dress code or anything, just us in our regular clothes helping out behind the counter. The space is a bit tight, especially when we get a fresh shipment of goods and have to stack boxes in the aisles for a few hours while we sort them. We just focus on keeping the stock levels up so we don't run out of the basics like soap or batteries. It is a simple way to make a living, and we like being around the people in this part of town. We usually lock up around eight every night after the last few customers leave.
