We set up Mahalaxmi Steel Varieties in Chinchwad quite some time ago. We deal with all sorts of steel items, from small household things to bigger pieces. The shop is usually full of the sound of metal clanging. It’s not a quiet place to work. We spend a lot of time moving heavy items around. You have to be careful not to drop anything on your toes. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who know how to handle the stock. Customers come in looking for specific sizes or types of steel, and we go back into the storage area to find it. It gets quite dusty back there. Chinchwad is an industrial area, so there’s always a lot of movement around us. We don't spend money on fancy uniforms or anything like that. We just wear our old clothes because they’re going to get dirty anyway. Sometimes we have to order special parts from other places, and that takes a few days. We try to be honest about how long things will take. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a shiny showroom. We just have the steel people need for their projects. It's hard work, and our hands are always a bit greasy, but it's what we do. We’ve built a decent reputation just by being here every day and helping people find the right metal for their small home repairs or bigger workshop needs.
