Down at 8th Cross in Shukrawar Peth, you’ll find us at Mahalaxmi Metal Industries. It is a noisy place, as you would expect from a business that works with metal all day long. We are right at the first spot on the street. We started this industry because there was a need for metal parts and fabrication work in this area. The shop is filled with the smell of iron and the sound of cutting machines. It is hard work and our hands are usually covered in grease or dust. We don't have a fancy showroom. Most of our space is taken up by raw materials and the machines we use to shape them. People come to us with drawings or just an idea of what they need fixed or made, and we do our best to get it right. Some days are better than others, especially when the orders pile up and we have to work late into the evening. The neighborhood is full of small workshops like ours, so there is always a lot of activity on the street. We’ve been here long enough that we know all the other shop owners around. We don't spend money on ads or anything. People just know we are here at the cross if they need something made out of metal. It is a straightforward business, and we just keep our heads down and do the work without any complicated talk.
