Bhawani Peth is one of those places where there is always something happening. Our hardware shop is located at survey number 17/21, right near the Bankar Talim. You can often hear the sounds of people practicing at the wrestling gym nearby. It gives the area a very traditional feel. We have got shelves stacked high with everything from nails to heavy tools. It is a bit of a squeeze inside, but we know where everything is kept. The street outside is narrow and usually crowded with delivery bikes and people walking to the market. We spend our days mostly answering questions about what kind of bolt or pipe is needed for a specific repair. It is a very hands-on job. We get a lot of dust from the road, so we are always wiping down the counters. Kathriguppe is a busy spot, and being part of it means we don't get much downtime. We drink our chai standing up most days because there is always a customer waiting. We aren't fancy people; we just know our hardware. The building has been here for ages and shows its age, but it is sturdy. Most of our regulars are from the surrounding lanes and they have been coming to us for years. We just try to keep the right stuff in stock so nobody has to go all the way across town for a simple tool. It is a simple life in a busy peth.
