Maaleka Mobile

Maaleka Mobile is tucked away in Shukrawar Peth at Nagpur Chawl 53. It’s a small place but we manage to fit everything we need inside the four walls. Most days are spent looking at small screens and trying to fix buttons that don't work anymore. The chawl is a lively place to have a shop because there is always something going on right outside the door. You can hear the neighbors talking and the kids playing while we work on the phones. We have a glass counter where we keep some of the older models and some new ones too. It gets a bit crowded when more than two people come in at the same time because the shop isn't very wide. We usually have the radio playing in the background to keep things from being too quiet. The lighting isn't the best in this part of the building but we have some extra lamps for when we need to see the tiny parts inside a mobile. We’ve known the people living in Nagpur Chawl for a long time and they often stop by just to say hello or ask a quick question about their devices. It’s a simple life here and we don’t have any fancy decorations on the walls. We just keep our tools ready and wait for the next person to walk through the door with a cracked screen or a battery that won't charge up like it should.
