Laxmi Stores

You can find Laxmi Stores over in Mukund Nagar, inside the Sukhwani Campus at Vallabhnagar 21. It’s a small shop, mostly serving the people who live in the campus and the surrounding buildings. We’ve been here since the campus was relatively new. We sell the usual things—bread, eggs, stationery for the school kids, and basic toiletries. It’s the kind of place where people come when they forget one thing for dinner. The shelves are quite high, so I often have to use a stool to reach the top items for customers. It’s a quiet spot compared to the main road, which is nice. We have a small fridge for cold drinks and milk, and it hums quite loudly in the afternoon. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use candles or a small torch to see the back shelves. My wife helps me out in the evenings when it gets a bit more crowded. We don't have a fancy computerized system; we mostly just write things down in a ledger. It’s old-fashioned, but it works for us. We’ve seen kids in the neighborhood grow up and start coming in to buy things for their own homes. It makes you realize how long you’ve been standing behind the same counter. We just try to be a helpful part of the community here in Vallabhnagar and keep the basic items in stock.
