Krushna General Store

Krushna General Store is at the junction of Karve Road and Whitefield Road in the Mahadevapura area. It is a busy spot because of all the office workers and residents living nearby. The shop is quite small and we have shelves stacked all the way to the ceiling with things like soap, lentils, and packets of biscuits. We have a couple of old refrigerators for the milk and cold drinks which hum loudly throughout the day. Every morning we pull up the heavy metal shutters around seven o'clock. The floor is made of grey cement and it has some cracks in it from moving heavy crates around. We keep a small notebook where we write down things we need to order from the distributors. It gets a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at the same time. The dust from the road settles on the top shelves so we have to use a feather duster every few days. We know most of the people who come in because they live in the apartments just behind us. It is not a fancy supermarket with shopping carts or anything like that. You just tell us what you need and we get it for you from the back or the shelf. We deal with a lot of coins and small notes. Life here in Mahadevapura is fast but we just keep doing our daily work at the store.
