Krishna Polyhouse

We spend most of our time out here in Hinjawadi at 49 1 1. It is a lot of dirt and sun most days. When we first started Krishna Polyhouse, we just wanted to grow things better without the rain ruining everything. Now we spend hours checking the plastic covers and making sure the frames are steady. It isn’t fancy work. My hands are usually a bit stained from the plants or the tools. People come by asking about how to set up their own sheds or why their tomatoes aren't doing well. We just tell them what we know from doing it ourselves. The weather around here can be tricky, so the polyhouse helps a lot with that. Sometimes the wind gets real high and we have to go out and tighten everything down fast. It’s just us working the land and trying to keep the plants healthy. We don't have a big front office or anything like that. Just the structures and the plants inside. If you walk past the main road, you can see the white roofs of the houses. We've been at this for a while now. It started small and just sort of stayed that way because we like being able to see everything ourselves. Hinjawadi has changed a lot with all the new buildings, but we are still here doing our bit with the soil. It's quiet work mostly, except when we are building a new section and there's banging and clatter everywhere.
