Kiran Steel Center

Our shop, Kiran Steel Center, is right along the Pune Nasik Highway in Dhanori. Being on the highway means we get a lot of people stopping by who are just passing through. We carry a variety of steel products, mostly for home construction or small repair jobs. The place is basically a large warehouse with a small counter in the front. It’s often very dusty because of the constant traffic and wind from the highway. We move a lot of metal every day, so it’s fairly physical work. We don't have a big office or anything, just a desk where we handle the cash and receipts. We’ve been at this location for a while and have seen the highway get busier and busier. Sometimes it’s hard to hear customers over the sound of the trucks zooming past outside. We don’t do any fancy marketing, just put some items out front so people know what we sell. It’s a basic operation. We spend our days loading and unloading trucks or helping people tie steel rods to the roof of their cars. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We open up early and stay late most days since the highway never really sleeps. It’s just us out here in Dhanori, keeping the steel moving. The metal clanging is the only music we need.
