Kiran Shrigiri

I’m Kiran Shrigiri and my shop is over at 21/3, Somwar Peth. It’s very easy to find because it’s right near the Tourist Hotel. If you know Pune 11, you know it’s a busy part of the old city. The streets are narrow and there’s always someone moving something. My place is small, just one of many tucked into the lanes here. I’ve been in Somwar Peth for a long time. People around here know my face. It’s a very traditional way of working. I open the shutter in the morning and wait for people to come by. There’s no fancy website or anything like that. Just me and my work. The area can be quite loud with all the traffic and the nearby hotel guests, but I don't mind. It feels alive. Sometimes I sit outside on a stool and talk to the neighbors. We help each other out when needed. It’s not like those modern offices in Hinjewadi. This is old-school. I keep my books in a drawer and use a pen for most things. It’s simple and it works for me. If you’re ever in the Peth area, you can just ask someone for the Tourist Hotel and you’ll be right next to my door. I’m usually there until late evening. My family has been in Pune for generations, so this feels like the right place for me to be doing my business. It isn't much, but it belongs to me.
