Kautik Pan Centre

We are located in Pimpri, specifically in the Ram Nagar area of Rahatani Gaon. If you know Rahatani well, we are right in the heart of the village part. It’s just a small pan centre, the kind you see on every corner, but this one belongs to us. I start the day by cleaning the glass and arranging all the small containers. It’s not a high-end shop with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just a wooden stall where I’ve sat for many years. Most of the people who come here are workers from the nearby area or families living in Ram Nagar. We talk about the local news or whatever is happening in the gaon while I fix their pan. Sometimes the supply of good leaves is short at the market, so I have to go very early to find the right ones. It’s a quiet life mostly. The afternoons are slow when the sun is hitting the front of the shop, but things pick up once the sun goes down and people finish their meals. I don't have any staff, it’s just me here doing everything. I try to keep the area around the shop clean, but it’s a dusty road and there is always trash. People like to stand around and chat after they get their pan, which is fine with me. It makes the day go by faster. It’s just a simple business in a simple neighborhood.
