Kalakshetram Silks

We are situated on Laxmi Road, right across from the Bhanuvilas Theatre. The address is 357 on Ncpa Marg. This part of the city is always moving, especially with all the shoppers on the weekend. Our shop is where we keep all the silk sarees. We have rows and rows of them. It’s quite a lot of work to keep them all sorted by color and type. The theatre across the street is a good landmark for people trying to find us for the first time. Inside, we have some wooden counters where we spread out the fabric for people to see. The floor is tiled and we try to sweep it often because of the dust from the road. Sometimes the fans are a bit noisy but they keep the air moving. We aren't really into big decorations. We just let the sarees speak for themselves on the racks. The staff here has been with us for years. We know the regulars by name and what they usually like. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when more than five people are in at once, but we manage. We open early and close when the street lights come on. It’s a simple life running a shop here. We just focus on getting the stock in and making sure the quality is what it should be for the people coming in.
