Kajal Fresh Vegetable

The shop is located in Khondhwa, specifically at Shop No 46 C 2 in Brahma Estate. It is a small space, but we pack a lot into it. Every morning starts way before the sun comes up because that is when the trucks arrive with all the greens and roots. We spend a lot of time sorting through crates, putting the nicest looking stuff out front where people can see it. It is a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at once. The floor usually has a few stray leaves or some dirt from the potatoes, but we sweep it up when things slow down around midday. Khondhwa gets quite busy, and being in Brahma Estate means we see a lot of the same faces every day. People come in for a bunch of coriander or a few kilos of onions and stay to chat for a minute about their families. We don't use any fancy scanners or anything, just a basic scale and some paper bags. The heat in the afternoon can be a bit much, so we keep the fans going to stop the leafy greens from wilting. It is simple work, but it keeps us busy from dawn until late evening. There is always something to wash or trim or move around to make space for the next delivery. We just try to keep the bins full and the floor clear enough to walk without tripping over a cabbage.
