Our place is Kaizen Engineering (India) Pvt Ltd, located at Ambale Khatri Pole on Gandhir Road 20. It sounds like a big corporate name, but we are actually just a dedicated group working in a busy part of the city. The office is in an old building with high ceilings and narrow stairs. We do a lot of design work and small-scale manufacturing. There is always the smell of machine oil and metal shavings in the air. We have a few lathes and some newer equipment squeezed into the back room. My father started this years ago, and I took over after finishing school. The desks are piled high with blue-prints and technical drawings that we still do by hand sometimes. We don't have a receptionist, so if you walk in, you might have to wait a second for one of us to look up from what we are doing. The windows look out onto the crowded street where there is always someone shouting or a horn honking. It’s a lively place to work. We struggle with storage space because the parts are heavy and the room is limited. Most of our clients are local factories that need specific components made to order. We don't do much advertising; people just find us through word of mouth. It's about getting the measurements right and making sure the metal is cut clean. We just keep our heads down and do the work every day without much fuss.
