Jayesh A1 Sandwiches

You can find us in Kothrud, specifically in the 5th Block at number 1. Jayesh A1 Sandwiches is just a small setup, nothing like those big chain restaurants you see in the malls. We spend most of our day standing behind the counter, slicing bread and chopping up vegetables like cucumbers and tomatoes. The knife hitting the cutting board is the main sound you hear here all day long. Kothrud is a busy part of the city and there are always students and office workers rushing around. We see the same faces every afternoon around lunchtime. It gets a bit crowded around our stall when everyone is hungry at the same time. We try to keep the ingredients fresh and the workspace as tidy as possible, even though it is a small area. There are times when we run out of green chutney and have to grind a new batch quickly while people wait. We do not have a fancy menu with photos; we just know what people like and we make it. The sun hits the front of the shop in the morning, making it quite warm until we put up the shade. We have been in this 5th Block spot for a while now and it feels like home to us. It is just about making sandwiches and chatting with the locals who stop by for a quick bite on their way somewhere else. The noise from the street never really stops until we pack up everything at night.
