Jai Javan Pan Shopee

Jai Javan Pan Shopee is situated on Khondhwa Rasta Peth which is right near the Kondhwa bus stop. Being so close to where the buses pull in means we see a lot of people coming and going all day long. The shop itself is quite small and we have filled every inch of the walls with shelves. We keep all the different types of pan leaves and the various fillings in plastic containers and glass jars. The smell of the sweet chutney and the kattha is something you get used to after working here for a few days. We have a small mirror on the side wall so people can check themselves after they eat. The sidewalk outside is often crowded with people waiting for their bus to arrive. We spend a lot of time rolling the leaves and adding the right amount of lime and supari. It is a bit of a messy job because the red stains get on our fingers and the counter. We have a small television in the corner that we keep on for the news or some music. The noise from the traffic on Rasta Peth is constant and you have to speak up to be heard. We know most of the bus drivers who stop here for a quick break. It is just a local spot where people stop for a minute before moving on with their journey. We keep the place open until late at night for everyone.
