You can find us at Babarao Panjabrao Ghuge’s place in Bramhanwada, which is under the Malegaon taluka. This is a farmer-run company, so it’s not like a big corporate office you’d see in the city. We basically use this space to coordinate what we are growing as a group. Everyone here is pretty much a neighbor or a relative. We decided to go the organic route because the old ways of using too much spray were making the ground hard and less productive. It’s a lot of trial and error for us. Some years the cotton or the grains look great, and other years we struggle to get much of anything. We spend our days checking on the crops and meeting up at the house to talk about who is buying what this season. There’s always someone coming by with a tractor or a question about which seeds to use. We don’t have any marketing experts or fancy logos. We just sell what we grow. It’s a simple life, but the work never really stops. Even when the sun goes down, we’re often still sitting on the porch talking about the farm.
