In Living

In Living is based out of the Ishanya Mall, which is in the Yerwada Wakadewadi area of Pune. Being inside a mall means we have a different kind of day compared to a street-side shop. There is air conditioning and lots of glass windows all around. We spend a lot of time walking around the floor, looking at the different furniture pieces and making sure everything is where it should be. It is a large space because furniture takes up a lot of room. People come in while they are doing their weekend shopping at Ishanya Mall. Some just want to sit on the sofas to see how they feel, while others are looking for something specific for their new apartments in Pune. The lighting is bright and we have to keep everything clean because of the dust that somehow finds its way in despite being indoors. We are usually here from the mall opening time until late in the evening. It can be quiet during the weekdays, so we use that time to organize the tags and check the stock levels. When the weekends hit, it gets much busier with families walking through the aisles. We talk to them about the wood and the fabrics without using any of those big sales pitches. It is just about showing them what we have on the floor. Working in Yerwada is convenient because it is easy for people to find the mall. It is a steady way to spend the day.
