It is a bit of a small spot here in Akurdi, but we make it work every day. Usually, I get in around ten in the morning and pull up the heavy metal shutter. The street starts getting loud pretty early with all the bikes and people heading off to their jobs. Hum Tum Mobile Shopee has been sitting at this same corner for some time now. You can see the glass display cases right through the front window, mostly filled with colorful cases and some of those newer phone models that people always seem to be asking about. I spend a lot of my time sitting behind the counter. Sometimes the overhead light inside is a bit too bright, but it really helps when you are squinting at those tiny screws inside a phone. Most days it is just me and maybe one other person helping out with the tasks. We have a single wooden chair for people to sit while they wait, but usually they just stand and chat while I look at a cracked screen or check a dead battery. Akurdi has changed quite a bit since I first started coming around this area. There are more shops now and the traffic on the main road never really seems to stop. Inside the shop, it smells like a mix of electronics and floor cleaner. I keep a small radio on the back shelf, mostly just for background noise so it is not too quiet. It is a simple place, nothing fancy at all, just a shop where we do our regular work.
