Hemant Provision Stores

Hemant Provision Stores is located on Warje 80 Feet Road 3. Being on such a wide road means there is always a lot of dust blowing in from the traffic, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the glass jars and the counter. The shop is full of big sacks of rice and lentils that sit on the floor near the entrance. You can smell the spices and the grains as soon as you step inside the door. We have been at this spot on 80 Feet Road for a good while now. The number 3 is easy to find if you are looking at the building numbers along the strip. It is a long shop with shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling. We have to use a tall wooden ladder to reach the items at the top, and sometimes that ladder feels a bit shaky. The counter is made of dark wood that has been worn smooth by years of people leaning on it and counting out their change. Most mornings start with the milk delivery trucks waking up the whole street. We open up early and stay late to make sure everyone in the neighborhood can get their groceries. There is a small radio behind the counter that usually plays local news or music, but the sound of the traffic outside is often louder. It is just a basic store where we try to keep the essentials ready.
