Running a shop like Harsh Mobile Shopee here in Hinjawadi means dealing with a lot of people every single day. We are located on the Lalbagh Fort Road, which is a place that never really seems to sleep. There is always someone coming in asking about a screen protector or a new charging cable because they lost theirs at work. The shop is small and we have shelves lined with different phone cases and accessories. It gets a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at once. Outside, the traffic on the road is pretty constant. You can hear the horns and the bikes zooming past all the time. We have a small stool behind the counter where I sit when things are slow. During the rainy season, the water sometimes splashes up near the entrance, so we have to keep a mop handy. People from the nearby offices stop in during their lunch breaks to check out the latest gadgets or just to get their phones looked at. It’s a lot of repetitive work, fixing the same kinds of problems over and over, but it keeps us busy. The light inside the shop is quite bright so people can see the small parts we are working on. We just stay here and do what needs to be done for anyone who walks through the door. It’s a simple living for us and we stay open until late evening most days. Sometimes we run out of change and have to run to the tea stall next door to get some for the customers.
