People usually find us here at 6 Popular Nook in the Masjid Bunder area. It is a bit of a tight squeeze around Tandel Street South sometimes when the deliveries come in. We have been at this spot for quite a while now. Most mornings start early with opening the heavy shutters and sweeping the front steps. We deal with all sorts of cloth pieces in different colors. People come in looking for stuff for shirts or pants or sometimes even curtains. It is not a big fancy place, just shelves full of rolls of fabric. Sometimes the old fans make a little clicking noise but it keeps the air moving in the heat. Vishrantwadi is a busy part of town and we see a lot of the same faces every week. My father used to handle things differently but now we just keep it simple. We don't really do big ads or anything like that. If someone needs a meter of cotton, they walk in and we cut it for them on the big table. The light inside isn't the brightest but you can see the fabric colors okay if you take them to the door. We keep the registers near the entrance. It gets a bit dusty because of the road outside but that is just how it is here. Sometimes we sit on the wooden stools outside when it is quiet. It’s mostly just us doing our work and making sure the stacks stay tidy.
