Gokhale Hospital

You can find Gokhale Hospital over on Tilak Road, right in the Shukrawar Peth area. This is an older part of the city, and Survey No 996 is where we have been for a long time. The streets around here are narrow and usually filled with scooters and delivery vans. It’s a very traditional neighborhood. Our building matches the area—it’s lived-in and feels like it has a lot of history. We have several floors, but the stairs are a bit steep for some. We see all kinds of patients every day. Some come in for general fever, others for more serious issues. Shukrawar Peth is the kind of place where everyone knows their neighbors, so we get a lot of local talk in the hallways. We don't use any high-tech systems for checking people in; it’s mostly just notebooks and pens. The doctors here have been around for years and they know the families in the area well. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans running constantly. It’s not a quiet place, as Tilak Road is always buzzing with activity outside. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. There isn't any fancy lobby or a valet for cars. You just park where you can and walk in. It’s a plain, honest place where we take care of health matters day in and day out.
