Gharkala

You can find us at G 27 in Mantri Market over in Hadapsar. Being in a market means there is always something going on. From the moment we open the shutters in the morning, there’s people walking by and the sound of other shopkeepers setting up. Gharkala has been in this spot for a while now. It’s a small space, but we’ve packed it with everything we need to run things. Most of our day is spent talking to folks who live nearby. They come in looking for something specific, and we do our best to find it in the back. Sometimes the shop feels too small when three or four people are inside at once. The lighting isn't the brightest, but it’s homey in its own way. We don’t do a lot of advertising; mostly people just know we’re here because they’ve been coming to Mantri Market for years. Lunch usually involves getting something from one of the stalls around the corner. We know most of the other owners around here, so there’s a lot of chatting back and forth across the aisle. It gets really busy on weekends, which is good for business but makes it hard to move around the floor. We like being part of the local scene here. It’s honest work, and we get to see the same faces every week. We just keep things simple and try to be helpful to anyone who walks through the door.
