Flying Birds School

Flying Birds School is over here at Om Sai Bungalow in Katraj. If you know this part of Pune, you know it gets quite busy around Survey No 33. We started this place because we wanted a space for the local kids to spend their day. It’s not a huge fancy campus, just a bungalow that we turned into classrooms. In the mornings, you’ll hear the children singing rhymes or running around the front yard before the first bell rings. We spend a lot of time cleaning up after the little ones, honestly. The walls have some crayon marks here and there, but that’s just how it goes with kids. The staff mostly comes from around this neighborhood, so we all know each other. Sometimes the traffic outside is loud, but once the gates are shut, it’s just us and the students. We don’t have a big office or anything. Most days you’ll find the teachers sitting together during lunch, talking about their own families or the lesson plans for the next week. It’s a bit cramped when the parents come for meetings, but we make it work. We try to keep things simple here. There’s a lot of paperwork that piles up on the desks, and sometimes the printer acts up, but we get through the day. It’s just a regular school where we try to teach the kids their ABCs and numbers without too much fuss.
