Everest Enterprises is tucked away near 7 Loves Chowk in the Dhayari Gultekdi area. That intersection is always a bit of a mess with all the rickshaws, buses, and people trying to cross at the same time. We are right in the middle of all that noise. Our shop is a bit of a landmark for some because we’ve been here at number 7 for so long. We deal with various items, mostly general supplies that people in the area need for their businesses or homes. The shelves are pretty high and we have to use a wooden ladder to reach the stuff at the top. It gets quite dusty because of all the construction happening nearby, so we spend a lot of time wiping things down. We don't have a fancy website or a big social media presence. We just rely on the fact that we are easy to find and we usually have what people are looking for. The tea seller across the street brings us chai twice a day, which is the highlight of the afternoon. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two, and we just sit by the door and watch the traffic at the chowk until it comes back on. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s our business and we take care of it as best as we can. We know most of our neighbors and it feels like a real community here. It is just the way we like it.
