Engineering India

Engineering India is run from my flat here in Lake Town, Bibwewadi. It's on the tenth floor of Building D9, so we have a pretty good view of the area. It might seem strange to have an engineering name while working from a residential apartment, but most of what I do is design work and consulting. I don't need a big workshop for that. I spend most of my time at the computer or looking over blueprints on the dining table. My wife isn't always happy about the stacks of paper everywhere, but it's how I get things done. I’ve been an engineer for many years, and after leaving my last job, I decided to just do things on my own. Bibwewadi is a nice place to live and work, though the elevators in D9 can be slow during the morning rush. I meet clients either here or at their own project sites around Pune. It's a one-man show for the most part, though I sometimes hire a drafter to help with the drawings when things get busy. I like the quiet of working from home compared to the noisy factories I used to be in. People usually find me through old colleagues or friends. I don't have a fancy website or anything, just my phone and this desk. It’s a straightforward way to keep working without too much overhead. I keep my files organized in a cabinet in the corner so I don't lose anything important.
