Dum A Dum

Dum A Dum is located at Shop No 2 in Shubham Heights, right along the Pune Bangalore Highway in Warje. Because we are so close to the highway, the sound of trucks and cars is something we hear all day and night. It’s a small shop, but we stay pretty busy with people living in the apartments nearby. I usually start my shift by checking the pots and making sure the kitchen is ready for the rush. The air in here often smells like onions and spices being fried up. We have a few small tables, but a lot of people just take their food and go back to their own places. The highway brings in some travelers too, folks who saw the sign and decided to pull over for a quick bite before continuing their trip. It’s not a quiet place to work, but I like the energy of it. Sometimes the delivery bikes are lined up outside and it gets a bit chaotic on the sidewalk. I spend a lot of time packing containers and making sure the lids are on tight so nothing spills on the way out. My shoes are usually worn out from all the pacing back and forth on the tiled floor. We have been in Warje for a while now and we know the rhythms of the highway traffic pretty well. It is just a basic shop doing what it does every day for the locals.
