Dilip Watch Center

Dilip Watch Center has been a part of Kothrud for quite a while now. Kothrud is a big place, but we’ve managed to stay put while other things around us come and go. I’ve spent more hours than I can count sitting at my workbench, looking at tiny springs and gears. It’s the kind of work that requires you to stay still and focus, which can be hard when the afternoon sun hits the window. Most people who come in are regulars from the neighborhood. They know me by name, and I know which watch belongs to who just by looking at the scratches on the back. It’s a small shop, mostly filled with the smell of machine oil and the sound of dozens of clocks all ticking at slightly different times. It can get a bit loud at noon when they all chime, but I don't even hear it anymore. I don't do much advertising; people just know where we are. Whether it’s a cheap plastic watch or something a bit more expensive, I treat them about the same. They all need to tell the time correctly at the end of the day. I keep my tools organized, even if the rest of the shop looks a bit cluttered with boxes and old parts. It’s just how I work. Kothrud feels like home, and running this watch center is just what I do. I might retire one day, but for now, I’m happy right here at the bench.
