Dhanshree General Store

Bhor is a quiet place and our shop in Nere reflects that most of the time. We are out here away from the main rush of Pune city. Life moves a bit slower at Dhanshree General Store. I open the shutters early when the air is still cool. Most of the people coming in are farmers or workers from the nearby area. They need basic things like tea powder, soap, or maybe some biscuits for the kids. The shop is in a small building and we have to be careful how we stack the crates so nothing falls over. I do all the ordering myself, which means I have to drive into the city sometimes to get things that the local distributors don't carry. The shelves are mostly metal and they rattle a bit when the big trucks go past on the road. We don't have any computers here; everything is written down in a thick diary with a blue cover. Sometimes I forget where I put my glasses and have to ask a customer to help me find them on the counter. It is a simple life and the business isn't complicated. We just try to have what people ask for so they don't have to travel far. In the rainy season, the roof leaks a little in the corner, so we move the rice bags to the middle of the room. It is just how things are.
