Dhanshree Furniture

Dhanshree Furniture operates out of the Ashtavinayak Building in Dhayari, near the Kailash Deshmuk Chawl. Our workspace is usually full of wood shavings and the sound of tools. We make things like cupboards, beds, and tables for people in the neighborhood. It isn't a factory; it’s more of a workshop where we do things by hand. We have been in this part of Dhayari for a long time. People come to us when they need something sturdy for their homes. We don't have a glossy catalog. Instead, we show people what we are currently working on or some sketches we've made. The air always smells like sawdust and glue. It’s a bit messy, but that is how furniture gets made. We spend a lot of time talking to customers about what kind of wood they want and how much space they have in their rooms. Sometimes it takes longer than expected to finish a piece, especially if the weather is humid and the polish won't dry. We aren't a big brand name you see on TV. We are just local carpenters and sellers who know our craft. People often find us because they saw a sofa we made for their neighbor. We like working this way. It is practical and keeps us connected to the people living around the Ashtavinayak Building. We just keep our heads down and do the work. The finished pieces usually leave the shop on the back of a small tempo bound for a nearby flat.
