Corn Junction

Corn Junction is located in Mangalam Chamber on Paud Road. If you know the Suzuki showroom, we are right opposite that. It is a very busy road with too many cars and bikes going past all the time. Sometimes the dust gets into the shop, so we have to wipe the counters every hour. We mostly deal with corn here. The smell is everywhere. On rainy days, the road gets muddy and people run inside to stay dry. We don’t have much space for sitting. It is mostly a stand and eat or take away kind of thing. My hands usually feel the heat from the stove. It’s hard work when there’s a rush in the evening. People coming home from the offices in Mangalam Chamber are always in a hurry. They want their food fast. I try to keep up but sometimes the line gets long. My brother helps me with the prep work in the mornings. We spend a lot of time cleaning the cobs and getting things ready. The lights in here are a bit too bright, but they show the food well. It’s loud because of the traffic outside. You can barely hear someone talking if a big truck goes by. We’ve been at this spot for some time now. It’s just a normal day-to-day business for us. Nothing special, just keeping the stove hot and the corn fresh for whoever comes by.
