City Communication is located in Akurdi Mhatre Wadi 4. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but we have a steady group of people who come to see us. I’ve been working in this shop for several years now. We do a lot of different things, from selling second-hand phones to helping people set up their new ones. The shop is quite small, so we have to use every bit of wall space for hanging covers and cables. It’s a bit of a squeeze when there are more than four people inside. I usually have the radio on in the background. My desk is always cluttered with receipts and bits of paper where I’ve scribbled down phone numbers or notes. It’s not the most organized system, but it works for me. People in Akurdi are mostly working-class, so they want things that last and don't cost a fortune. I try to find stock that fits that. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to sit in the dark for a bit, chatting with whoever is in the shop at the time. It makes the day go by faster. I don't have a fancy website or anything like that. People just know where we are. We're just a local spot where you can get your mobile needs handled without any corporate headache. It’s a simple life, but I like being my own boss here.
